3 Reasons You Should Never Retire

3 Reasons You Should Never Retire

By Franklin Skribbit

If you are currently in school and looking to study gerontology, then that is very exciting. Gerontology is the study of the social, psychological, and biological aspects of aging.

If there was anyone that should have looked forward to his retirement, it would have been Lee. And yet, he told reporters that he failed. Shortly after retirement, he began looking for other projects to keep him busy. He was bored and had to be doing something; he returned to Chrysler a few times, amongst other things.

This trend tends to follow the hardest working people in the workplace; the ones that are the first in the office and last to leave. These are the people that should want it the most, and yet they can't stand it once they get it. They learned that retirement's not all it's cracked up to be. Health Science tends to agree as well.

Many people who think they want to go into gerontology start to reconsider when they start interacting with older people. Interacting with older people can indeed be difficult. They oftentimes don't respond as quickly or clearly as would a younger person. Sometimes older people experience dementia, and they repeat certain phrases over and over.

Most memorial services utilize a religious center, wherein people can gather and find comfort in the sense of community that permeates these proceedings. Based on the faith of the people involved and in the deceased, there often will be a message of hope found in the proceedings.

Second, your body doesn't react to it well. Retirement looks like people sitting in chairs watching TV. Exercise becomes (or indeed stays) an undesirable activity. It's during this time that you need it the most though. Health science watches the sentient lifestyle create an overweight population while increasing the chances for chronic disease. It's an active lifestyle that keeps these ill-effects away.

Make sure that you are talking slowly enough so that they can hear what you're saying and understand the meaning of what you're saying. Another great way to effectively communicate with older people is to avoid distractions.

Not being able to retire seems like a bad thing because the news makes it that way. Retirement is all they can think about.

Headlines bemoan the possibility of the elderly being unable to retire in their lives. They use their words to twist and turn the lack of retirement into a horrible outcome for many people, implying that the elderly can't possibly enjoy the rest of their lives if they have to work their way through it.

Another thing that many people think is awkward is eye contact. But if you maintain eye contact throughout a conversation, that really helps the person to know that you are interested in them and you are actively listening to them.

The process is not an exact one, but it is one that helps those who are going through a hard time and who need to be surrounded by friends and family in order to feel supported and loved. As a long term care provider, especially for those who work in hospices and nursing homes, some duties of the job may require that you understand the proceedings of a quality memorial service with the ability to organize such a service quickly.

When it comes time to retire, perhaps you'll see that sitting on a couch for the rest of your life isn't the way. It's better spent on the move, working, learning, and becoming better to continually stave off the ill-effects of old age, like Lee and so many others.
