Adjusting A Budget To Survive

Adjusting A Budget To Survive

By Maryl Joop

Now that you have purchased your new home with help from your VA home loan, you may wish to consider adding upgrades. These upgrades do not have to be anything major, just simple in-house home improvements that will turn your new house into your new home.

This is the thought process of many homeowners who have purchased their home with the help of a VA home loan. VA home loans make the dream of owning a home a reality for returning and qualified veterans, but many of these individuals do not know how to decorate their new home with an extremely limited budget to do so.

Bills and mortgage will often take the place of a home-decorating budget, so how can individuals adorn their homes with little to no money set aside to do so? The answer is to decorate creatively.

Either a normal refinance, or a VA streamline can help you get into a cheaper monthly payment. They can often extend the life and total expenses of your mortgage, but it can keep you from having to foreclose while cutting immediate budget needs.

The following will be a few examples of how to decorate a home expending little to no monetary overhead, but more than direct suggestions, these ideas are meant to spur other ideas and thoughts from homeowners on how they can adequately decorate their home to their fitting while expending as little as possible.

If you feel like the faucet, gutters, or other similar projects can wait, you may wish to consider what other home improvement projects can be done around the home for cheap. One of the first ways to improve a home is with a change of color to a room or two.

Applying a new coat of paint is one of the least expensive home improvement projects a homeowner can undertake simply because the materials for painting are relatively cheap and the labor can be performed by the homeowner themselves for no out of pocket costs on service. Painting can be as large or as small of a project as you desire and can therefore also cost as much or as little as can be afforded.

Switching up the colors of frames to accent the room can likewise be a simple and easy fix to a home decorator, but even this simple decorating tip costs money due to paint costs. There are other ways for a homeowner to decorate their house that will cost them nothing at all, and that way is by reusing old and refurbished items in new and unique ways.

One of the prime examples of this is to decorate the bathroom with usable, but seldom used or obsolete, kitchen ware. Things like old bowls, pitchers, or cups can be used to both pleasingly decorate and practically assisted the bathroom by housing toiletries such as tooth brushes, cotton swabs, brushes or combs, and makeup applicators.

Fourth and finally, consider removing your cable/Hulu/Netflix subscription. There's much more to the world than watching TV. There are so many other ways to enjoy your life. Playing catch, riding bikes, and reading a book are just a few ideas to think on.

These and other ideas can be used around the house to decorate the home with little to no added expense.
