For anyone who want to know how to get rid of fleas in carpet there are a few things that need to be kept in mind. One is that if it is not done properly and thoroughly, they will return. Getting rid of fleas permanently is possible though when it is done right. By following a few simple steps you can get rid of these pests for good

To start the process you should steam clean all the carpeted surfaces that you have. The high heat from the steam cleaner will kill off most of the bugs and their eggs. Do every room over at least two times to be sure that you have gotten as many as you can. Don't forget all the corners and hard to reach places that they may be hiding.

The next step is to get a mixture of salt and borax. The mixture should be in equal parts and spread generously over all carpeting in each room. The salt and borax mixture will dehydrate and kill and of the nasty pests that it comes into contact with. It will also be able to kill any larvae and eggs that may be hanging around still.

Once the mixture has been sitting for long enough, roughly twelve hours or so, vacuum it all up. Once you are done this remember to through out the vacuum bag as there may still be some living in it. Be sure to get everywhere as well because you never know where they may be hiding.

It is important to do this in every room, preferably at the same time as they tent to travel through rooms very quickly. The best way to go about this is to do it right before going to bed. This way you can deal with the clean up the next day and it won't have much impact on your daily activities.

While you are doing this it is a good idea to keep any pets out of the way. When you start cleaning them up they will start looking for the safest place to hide, your pets fur. To prevent this from happening, keep all pets away from the areas that you are cleaning.

Also do all soft furniture where fleas may be hiding. If it can be put into the washing machine, do so on the highest heat possible. For certain items it may not be possible to clean them as well as you should, and for the sack of your home, should just be thrown out. For everything else, after they have been cleaned, cover them in the mixture of salt and borax as you have done with the carpeting.

Once you know how to get rid of fleas in carpet you will also need to take care of the ones living on your pets. Give them a good washing so that they don't carry anymore of theses little bugs into your home. You will also need to thoroughly clean any areas that they like to go, inside and out.
