Most Muslim officers that offer their service to the military are required to obey a standard diet that is imposed by the Islamic laws. They consume foods that have halal rations. There are religious standards and rules that are observed upon packing such necessities. All the important nutritional requirements that are needed by an individual is already packed in every serving of such meals.

Halal simply means permissible and lawful. This is a label that is give to some objects and items that are allowed by the Islamic law. For the foods, there is no rule that mandates the way of packing and preparing it. Its primary concern is to avoid meat or animal tissues. Haram is the opposite of halal that would mean prohibited or forbidden. This is seen most often in various products which include pork and alcohol.

Every meal pack usually contains one serving of certified entrees and some complementary items that are certified by some religious groups. Each pack must be packed in a particular way and often comes with two intermediary boxes. One of it would carry a dozen entrees while the other contains some components like seasonings and condiments that are approved and allowed.

Such rations will stay fresh for as long as ten months period from the time that it was delivered. The minimum shelf life will only last for at least three months. On most countries, the military is only allowed to purchase such items. There are other agencies who are authorized or funded by the sectors of the government that could also have their rations. These are not sold individually by private sectors as well.

A typical rice meal would include beef stew, noodles and chicken. It may also have brown rice together with a chicken and a sauce. Other meals are pasta with some garden vegetables. There is also lasagna, chicken and black beans, chicken Mediterranean, lamb and barley stew and vegetarian stew.

Pepper, moist towelettes, salt, spoon and tissues are among the complementary and extra components that can be provided. Cocoa, coffee, sugar and creamer can also be provided for beverages. Granola bars, bagel chips, snack mixes, peanuts and cereals are among the usual snacks.

Each meal is cooked properly and could be heated in a microwave for about two minutes. It could be reheated as well or maybe eaten without preparations. Most of these do not even need an additional water.

No wonder that these foods have many nutritional benefits. This is due to the fact that no preservatives are added in each packaging. The nutritional requirements in every pack has 1200 calories that is enough to give you much power up to the next meal. This can also be consumed by everyone even if these are made in obedience to different religious standards.

Halal rations are not only about some food choices that will fit your lifestyle. It can even be present in some items such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. It would not allow products that have animal substances that the Muslims must not consume and apply to their bodies.
