All About The Saluki Puppies

All About The Saluki Puppies

By Lila Berger

Saluki puppies have long, softer coat and are fine feathered pets. They are among the oldest breeds with their roots during ancient times. They are treated as talented desert animals that live with the tribal people. They are to help the people hunt under dry and hot weather conditions.

These animals are treated well in Egypt. They are called as royal dogs in this country. Their remains were kept in the tombs. Some Arabic countries believe that these animals are among those clean ones that can enter and enjoy inside their houses which are commonly tents.

This breed was introduced first in European countries and reached the England shores. They are mostly of stunning appearance. They described as delicate, striking and graceful. Their appearance signifies their independence and strong temperament to perform the job they are tasked to do. They have narrow and long head with beautiful dark eyes.

These animals have deeper ribcage for the ribs and lungs with their slender and longer legs. All their parts are greatly proportioned which display their grace and of course poise. They have the ability to survive long distances. They tend to be aloof when they do not know the person or when someone does not know how to treat them.

However, they are truly gentle, sensitive and friendly and most of all intelligent. As the owner, you need to be patient during training to avoid them getting bored and distracted. You must not threaten the dogs with too loud screams and other unpleasing threats. You must encourage them not to be a shy brat.

The Saluki is healthy and hardy breed of dog that can live up to the age of fourteen years. There are few hereditary diseases that can affect the health of these animals. The most common among diseases are cancers such as liver cancer. They require a good routine of exercise and most especially, a loving family.

These animals do not mostly bark, they do only when something is not good or when there is a strange thing or person. Some of them do bark without any reason as perhaps they just really love to do it. They must be exercised because they can directly climb a fence. You must exercise them to avoid getting any trouble on your backyard.

This breed is clean which has little or no smell at all. It will not be hard to clean them since they have shorter coat. They should not be trained as outside pets as they are not good in that kind of situation. They do not salivate except when there is food of course. They are easy to train inside the house but make sure they will not destroy your set of furniture.

Saluki puppies can be choosy when it comes to their food but they are good eaters. They can easily consume their food. They will mostly eat and drink less compared to other breeds. They have less fat as well compared to other kinds. When they spayed, they can be fatter and their coat will be more fuzzy. With their lack of fat comes the disadvantage, they are mostly prone to anesthetic agents. This can be true to some if not all.
