Tactical Paintball Gear You Absolutely Need

By Heidi Carver

If you are thinking about how to maximize the fun times now that the weather is good, your best bet is to try fun outdoor activities. If you are more of the calm and laid back type, then you might enjoy growing flowers in your backyard or having a picnic. But, if you prefer to get all sweaty and work all those muscles and joints, you might want to try out the newest trend which is tactical paintball.

Paintball, though only recently became popular in more than twenty five countries, was actually first played in as far back as 1981. There are two opposing teams in every game, with as much as 16 members per team. The objective of each player is to eliminate opponents by shooting them down with paint. You have to leave a mark the size of a quarter on the tactical paintball gear of your enemy.

Paintball can also help develop some useful skills. One of these is strategy. Because the sport requires you not to get hit with paint, you need to develop a strategy to bring your opponents down without getting eliminated yourself. Another skill that can be developed is cooperation. Since it is a group game, a player needs to cooperate with fellow team members to win. There are still a lot more, like learning to be quick and accepting defeat.

Before you can actually play the game, you need to be armed and ready. You will need a good paintball gun that does not make you feel uneasy when you carry it. There are a lot of models and different brands to choose from, so you can be sure to find the perfect one for you.

When you have already gotten hold of a gun, this is practically useless without the bullets or paint balls. Paint balls come in different sizes, but most common ones have a dimension of 17.3 millimeters or . 68 caliber. Paint markers and barrels range from . 67 caliber to . 71 caliber.

You now have the weapon, so the next gear you need are masks and helmets. You need to protect your head as you jump, roll, dive and duck in order to avoid getting hit. Masks are also essential as they protect your eyes from being hit. Most masks have a tendency to fog and obstruct your vision, so opt for ones with thermal lenses.

There is no standard outfit for this activity. Most players wear camouflage clothing but jeans and shirts are acceptable for casual games. Just wear tough but loose clothing with long sleeves, if possible. Also, wear those clothes that you do not mind getting torn or muddy.

You will also need a vest. There are those loaded with many pockets for holding your keys, your phone, and your wallet, amongst others. Protective vests are also worn to receive the full impact of a shot, which can be painful if you get hit in sensitive areas.

Remember, safety should always come first. Get yourself quality products from trusted brands. You can also rent yourself some gear or buy second hand ones from people you can trust. With the right equipment, nothing can stand in your way to become a great player.
