In this civilized world, it is a pity that many people are not interested in learning about their past and the culture their fore fathers adopted. This is because many are quick to judge the ancient practices as being backward and inhumane. This misinterpretation has deprived many of their pride for their originality as many embrace civilization. Therefore, you should know the principles of the Arapahos.

It is necessary for a tribe engage in an activity that will propel it to become stable in providing food and supplies for the members. This society mainly relied on hunting. The men were responsible in going for the hunting expedition. What they targeted was meat and the hides. The buffalo was the most popular animal that was hunted by these people. This is because it was more dominant in this area.

Family was the smallest unit for the community and it had in influence in the growth of the community. However, marriage was seen as a ritual that brought two families together. In the arranged marriage, the families of both the spouses would exchange their properties and horses as bride price. This depicts how the community treasured the joining of two people to build a family.

This community is made up of extremely social and friendly individuals. This is the reason why they managed to maintain a strong bond within their families and to the whole community. This social culture was cultivated in an individual from an early age when he/she starts associating with his parents. This is why the white settlers found it easy to live and trade with them.

In every band that was segmented from the community, the people that fall under each band recognized the authority of the headman. The headman was given charge of maintaining order and solving the cases for the people. This position was not hereditary and it could circulate. However, the main function was to protect the band from any attacks by deploying young men to war if necessary.

This community believed in the supernatural and in most cases, they would make contact with the invisible forces. There was a sacred flat pipe believed to be a medium, which enabled them to channel their grievances and requests to the forces. According to these people, all the life that is on the face of the earth depended on that flat pipe.

The ceremonies of the native Indians was based on the occasions that is in the community. However, some of them especially the religious ceremonies were carried out in specific seasons. Religious ceremonies were done to seek favors from their gods and sometimes to appease them. This are the best times for the native Indians to offer their sacrifices to the gods.

These Indian natives were also concerned about their beauty and they were proud of it. They were tall and they used to walk with their heads held up high. They use to tease their neighbors that they desired to steal their women in order to enhance their beauty. This sense of style for beauty made them to engage in arts that culminated in the making of beads and other beauty products.
