Custom Design Tees & Why The Cannon Is Important

Custom Design Tees & Why The Cannon Is Important

By Rob Sutter

When you're talking about the many staples of sports and live entertainment, I am sure that the shirt cannon is going to be one of the most common. After all, there's nothing that truly gets people out of their seats more than the prospect of a free shirt that will come their way. Most of the time they may come up short but it's not like it stops them from trying. Seeing as how I've become more intrigued by the idea of custom design tees, I believe that looking into this cannon's history was appropriate.

The New York Times talked about the history of this live sports mainstay. The cannon itself was formed in the 1990's and the man behind the creation was Tim Derk. For those who don't know, this man played the role of the Coyote mascot for the San Antonio Spurs. He had an idea to create another mascot and, in order to give the character something different, started to form a CO2 canister which went alongside an iron pipe. The mascot didn't catch on nearly as much as the cannon did.

This is clearly a popular device and those in the nosebleed sections of any stadium most definitely benefitted from them. In my eyes, this is the biggest perk when it comes to having seats which might not have been the most preferred spots in the world. Nonetheless, the fact that they are easily to work with only helps to make them even better. While they may look unsteady from the outside, the fact that they weigh no more than a few pounds only helps to make them accessible.

It's clear that anyone who works with custom design tees, or any related tops for that matter, will be able to tell you why these items are so important. Authorities along the lines of East End Screen Printing can make the claim that these items are mainstays in sports, which isn't wrong at all. Not only does it work well in terms of fan interaction but it can help to spread the name of a team further. When you want a brand to stand out, going about it through this way of promotion is probably best.

It's clear that these cannons give off a sense of enjoyment to any live crowd you can imagine. After all, who is honestly going to turn away the prospect of free merchandise? While I understood why so many people enjoyed seeing them utilized, it wasn't until recently that I began to pick up on details regarding their history. Now that such information has become aware to me, I now have a better appreciation of the items I've seen ever since I was a kid.
