Why Roger Federer Is My Favorite Tennis Player

Why Roger Federer Is My Favorite Tennis Player

By Davis Pete

There are many tennis players that I like to watch and learn from. I am always so amazed by the way they play and how they hit the ball so cleanly and smoothly on the court. However, there is a lot of hard work and sacrifice these players put in for training and during matches in order to succeed. There are no shortcuts and these players put in countless hours of practice to improve themselves both physically and mentally. These players have been an inspiration to me and I have always been motivated by them. Although I like many players, the player I like the most is Roger Federer, the number 1 in the world. Roger Federer (born August 8, 1981) is a Swiss professional tennis player who, in 2004, became the world's top tennis player.

I like Roger Federer because I have always looked up to him since young and I have always dreamt of being able to play like him and have so many great achievements. He is indeed a legend. Roger uses his brain to play and is very clever and smart on court. He is able to change his game during the match to suit different situations and is always finding ways to outsmart his opponent on court and force them to make errors. I can always learn so much from Roger's game and how he plays on court is always so fascinating. Watching his matches never fail to amaze me at how well he makes use of the court to force errors off the opponents racket and how he plays so smart and effortlessly to win points. Federer uses his accurate serve to his advantage by using his serve to set up an opportunity for him to finish off the point. Moreover, his game is also unpredictable as he is an all-rounded player and can place the ball so well with such accuracy to create points for himself. The Swiss Maestro is also very good at changing the pace and rhythm of the ball to upset the tempo of the opponent, forcing errors from the opponent. He is also good at controlling his feelings and emotions and does not show it on court. Whenever he steps on court, he always plays so effortlessly and gracefully that it always amazes me.

I also admire Roger Federer's determination and competitive spirit. He says 'You always want to win. That is why you play tennis, because you love the sport and try to be the best you can at it.' This shows that he is a determined person with that competitive drive that spurs him on to work harder and press on towards success. This is what brought him to win 17 Grand Slam titles breaking the previous all-time men's record of 14 by Pete Sampras. Federer's list of achievements is countless and the Swiss has managed to break many records in his years of playing in the professional circuit.

Despite all these remarkable achievements, Roger Federer is still humble and displays great sportsmanship on court. A player should have good character and attitude Roger Federer has great attitude and character and I am truly inspired by the Swiss' sportsmanship and attitude on and off court. He is still hungry for success and is willing to work even harder to scale greater heights.

In summary, Roger Federer has truly been an idol to me and he is indeed a remarkable person that has achieved so much with hard work. I have been motivated by him to work even harder and to play even smarter. I have indeed learnt a lot from his game. Alle Federer!
