Today Enjoy Fun With Digital Stamps

By Heidi Arrowood

People have always enjoyed the hobby of collecting stamps. It is a way to learn about other countries and an endless number of important public figures. Now a new version of this collectible has come along. A collector finds many ways to have fun with digital stamps too.

There are ordinary ways to apply them to cards. One is to print them onto paper, another is to cut them out and glue them on. Now they can be used for crafting and that is growing popular too.

These new graphics are often referred to as digi stamps and there is so much to know about them and how to use them. They are images in black and white that you download and use for a crafting project. You change them before printing them.

Although they resemble clip art, there are differences between the two. While rubber stamps have a wooden or acrylic base, they do not. They can be used in the same way the rubber kind are used after you print them.

You can color the black and white digital files before printing or after. They can be embossed and used to create scrapbook pages. These can be used to make hard bound or digital scrapbooks. Greeting cards made with them are prized by family members.

There are both advantages and disadvantages to using these as opposed to the other type. You can get them fast, right online, saving the cost and delay of having them delivered by the post office. The cost is low.

Crafting ideas are endless. These can be applied to fabric, including canvas. They can also be applied to glass, enabling you to decorate coffee mugs for gifts. There is no problem with storing and keeping track of them because they will remain on your computer until you decide to delete them.

You can share them and keep them for yourself for future use. A computer, printer and publishing software will allow you to begin to use them instantly. On the negative side, you have to be careful that the printer ink does not bleed. Also, keep a supply of extra paper and ink on hand. Some applications may take more than one try before they turn out to be perfect.

Print out a batch of these and let a group of children get creative. It will be surprising what inventive use they can put them to. Teachers and Girl Scout leaders can use them for a special holiday project. The children will love making their own greeting cards, thank you notes and scrapbooks for gifts. Everyone in the family or group will have fun with digital stamps.
